Thameside Forum Projectsthe old & the new on the river

THAMESIDE FORUM - "Your Forum, Your Choice."

We have funded many projects over the the last few years - Amongst others and held annually, is our Angling Competition open to local childen and young adults, all details can be found at our local Angling shop in Grays - Brainwoods in Clarence Road, Mick who runs the shop puts on a different hat annually to organise the event on behalf of Thameside Forum who fund the event.  Over the years many young people have found that fishing provides a consistent hobby that can be done with a group of friends or alone ( although it is sometimes quite rewarding when others can see your prowess at this engrossing hobby and can witness your skill at catching all kinds of fish, even the H-U-G-E ones that "got away!") The competition is staged next to the Sensory Garden on Heritage Wharf which makes a beautiful backdrop to the competition

SENSORY GARDEN - project funded & completed by Thameside Forum in 2003

In 2008 the Sensory Garden gained a full sized sculpture of "Britannia" atop the poles created by Raymond Massey of "Ornate Ironworks" Parker Rd. Grays - it has been galvanised to withstand the full force of nature for a good few years to come. This project was funded by Thameside Forum with help from Mr Massey for the galvanising and the design.Britannia sculpture In the photo from left to right is Raymond Massey - creator & sculptor; Tessa Dallyn-Roberts, Chair of Thameside Forum and Mr Massey Junior.

THE COPSE -in Badgers Dene cleared and landscaped in 2006The Copse in Badgers Lane

Before the Thameside Forum cleared and tidied this now attractive copse in Badgers Dene it was used for general drug taking and a rubbish tipping area. Children who passed it to and from school were wary of going through it and most people who lived in Badgers Dene looked upon it as a wasted area. It still needs regular tidying but now it's a healthy, thriving "lung" in part of the Forum's area.

HERITAGE WHARF GRAYS

A beautiful view of the busy, working River Thames. We just wanted to show you that a rather lovely area by the River Thames is totally accessible where no motorised traffic is allowed. Thameside Wharf runs between the Wharf Pub at the eastern end to Wouldham Road at the Western End - its worth a look as it's one of the hidden gems of South Grays. The Thameside Forum is proud of the area and endeavours to keep it looking attractive and in keeping with the wildlife and the environment, so take your rubbish home whilst enjoying the view, if you are with your dog - bag it up, doggy refuse bins are at both ends of the Wharf or, visit us for a healthy invigorating stroll or jog alongside the river.
